Baby Boy Onesies

Tyler and I were talking last week and I realized I only have a month and a week to go till this little guy makes his appearance! I literally have like one to two outfits for this guy in every size. Meaning 0-3, 3-6, etc etc. I was like well he at least needs enough to get him through the week ha ha. SO I went on a little shopping spree. Spent some money, but found some really good deals. I am a broke college student wife so shopping spree means like 3 outfits ha ha. Then I decided I needed to get back on my crafty bandwagon and make him the rest of the things I was planning on so that I didn't spend to much money. So baby onesies were first.

It was fun doing boy stuff and I forgot how fast these are. They took me two nap times to make 5! I love how most of them turned out. I was nervous about the helicopter but it ended up being really cute. I thought I would really like the guitar but now it's not my favorite. It's funny how you never really know till it's finished.  Tyler likes it though so we kept it. Maybe I'll make him some matching shoes or pants to go with it and I'll like it better.

Love the way the giraffe turned out. Still trying to decide if I want to put a face on it or not.

I saw this tutorial on pinterest to do you own screen printing at home. Apparently it looks and works better than just painting right on the t-shirt. So I gave it a try, EPIC FAIL! Ha ha I had a couple of black splotches on the onesie that looked nothing like sunglasses. So I free hand painted the sunglasses on the grey onesie. The mustache onesie I used freezer paper. Worked like a charm! If you have never used freezer paper try it! I love it! This was also my first time using fabric paint rather than acrylic paint, I just wanted to see if it was softer or would last longer. So far I haven't noticed a difference but I also haven't washed them yet. We shall see.

I still want to make him a vest and tie one, which I have a onesie for I just need to find some material I like. So Now I have 5 new things he can wear and I only had to buy the paint so total cost 1.50! Score.

Baby Boy 32 weeks

That's right I had my 32 week check up on Tuesday. We are getting so close to the end it is crazy! I am getting so excited to meet this little guy!

So back to my appointment. Good news first. Baby boy FLIPPED!! That's right he is now head down! I made the doctor check 3 times when he told me. ha ha I was like are you sure? He kept telling me yes his head is right there! I just didn't believe him. Once it sunk in I was so relieved! I was really not looking forward to a c-section. We aren't still completely out of the clear, there is a chance he could flip again, but it is a very slim chance considering how far along I am.

I have 8 weeks left but we will most likely be induced at least a week early, maybe more depending on my dilation. So I am looking at more like 6-7 weeks left. Crazy! So exciting though, I feel like this has gone so fast. Why am I being induced early? I was positive with strep-b with Sophia and so I am most likely positive with this one too. Normally it's not a big deal but my deliveries are fast and they want to be ably to get the antibiotics in before the baby comes.

Also my blood pressure has started going up. Bummer. I was hoping we could avoid that this time. Anyway it is on the rise and if it gets too high like it did with Sophia they will induce me early also. So either way I will be really surprised if I go past 39 weeks. I have felt not great this month, a not so nice side effect of the rising blood pressure. I only gained 2 pounds this entire month and the doctor said that was kinda low, which it is for me to be 32 weeks. Another not so nice side effect of my blood pressure rising. It's not like I don't eat. I eat all the time. I guess I need to eat more?

Anyway we are in the home stretch. I go in every two weeks now and then weekly in August! Oh SNAP! We can't wait to meet this little guy. Tyler is nervous because he is coming right when school starts but I keep telling him don't worry we have grandma's that are so excited to come stay and help. Here's to hoping the transition from 1 to 2 will be fairly smooth!

A week of new recipes

Do you ever get sick of the same meals rotating through you dinner schedule? I do! Especially when I am prego. So I decided to try a week of new recipes. I got most of them from my Pinterest board. Here was the schedule.

Monday: Chillis Cajun Chicken pasta : This one was to die for! It really did taste like the recipe from Cilli's!                  So good. The portions were huge though. It said it was for two we could have fed more like four with it.

Tuesday: Apple Kielbasa : This one was so so for me. Tyler liked this one though. If you have never heard of Kielbasa it is kinda like a sausage. We ate it a lot growing up. I love Kielbasa but for some reason (Which could be very well pregnancy) this recipe did not sit well with me. Tyler loved it though so try it and see what you think.

Wednesday: Left Overs

Thursday: Stuffed Potatoes : I know I know Stuffed potatoes? How is that a new recipe? Well what you put inside of it was a new recipe. We loved it! We just added some cheese and sour cream on top and it was delicious!

Friday: Taco Salad : Same thing new recipe for taco salad. It was alright pretty much tasted like every other taco salad I have ever had nothing special but try it if you want too.

Saturday: Left Overs

Sunday:  Jamaican jerk chicken with Jamaican rice and peas : This one was awesome! I did this one because Tyler talked about this chicken on his mission all the time. So I tried it and it was to die for! I also made from scratch Jamaican rice and peas which is really rice and beans and spices. Both were equally great! Try it, and so much better when bbq on a grill!

So anyway it was a fun week trying new recipes and now we have some more fun stuff to add to our rotation of recipes! You should try it too!

Mothers

I was sitting in silence for the first time in, oh I don't know weeks, and reading this lovely post on mothers. (go read it! This lady is in my ward and is fabulous! It's not long it won't take all day.) It case you didn't read it it's typically about not judging mother's and how hard we are on one another.

Now I am not going to preach on here to you or anything but seriously how often do mothers talk about mothering? How often in those mothering talks are we criticizing another mother? I am guilty of it. While I was sitting in my quiet living room reading this post I just thought WHY? Why do we feel the need to do that? Why do we feel the need to criticize someone on the hardest job alive? Motherhood is HARD! It is not easy. It is fun, rewarding, laughable, cryable, and straight up sometimes crappy (literally and figuratively). So why do we feel the need to pull each other down?

I don't want to rewrite everything Meg wrote cause if you go read her post she says it perfectly. I wanted to post things I do as a mother that other woman might think are not okay. That's right I am spilling my dirty secrets.

     1. I did not breastfeed. GASP.
     2. Sophia sometimes watches more than an hour of TV a day. OH MY.
     3. I took the binkie away cold turkey. That's right, I made my child suffer for two days till she learned to sleep without it.
     4. I don't bath my child everyday. HORROR
     5. I forget to change her bum till sometimes it is sagging to the ground. GROSS
     6. She eats hot dogs, chicken nuggets, french fries. Processed food?! Yeah she eats it sometimes!
     7. I let her sit on the floor, on the couch, on the ottoman to eat lunch. Not in a high chair? Call DCFS!
     8. Some days I don't get her dressed. WHAT?
     9. I never brush her teeth in the morning, only at bedtime. CAVITIES!

Those are only 9 of I am sure many things I do that are not "mother approved". Enjoy it, judge me, talk about me if you need to, but then maybe think this, women have been raising kids since adam and eve and NONE of those mothers raised their children like YOU, and millions and millions of those children turn into amazing people, decent people, people we become friends with and associate with everyday, people who change the world for the better.

We are moms! Our lives are not a cake walk! How about just a little support and  love for one another! We are all different, do what works for you and your family and appreciate what other mothers do for their families!

Sophia's second birthday!!

You read the title right my baby is 2! That is just crazy to me. Why? It's crazy that my baby is 2, she isn't really a baby at all anymore. Tyler and I have been parents for 2 years! We have our second kid coming in 2 short months. All of this is crazy to me but I have loved the last two years of being this girls momma! I am one lucky lady!

Anyway some quick stats on this little one. She weighs 32 lbs. and is 40 inches tall. She is in the 92% for weight and the 97% for height, meaning she is basically the size of a 3 year old. She is giant. Tyler is hoping that will mean a basketball scholarship! She loves Minnie Mouse, Sesame street (Ernie is what she calls it), and tangled. She Will eat any fruit you give her, corn is the only vegetable I can get her to eat, I am not even sure that counts as a veggie. She loves steak, pasta, and Homemade french bread (seriously the only bread she will eat willingly). She is learning some many new words everyday, I can almost always figure out what she is talking about. She is getting more and more polite it is so cute! She waves by to anyone who drives past us in a car, or walks out any door, or walks in a general direction away from her. Bye Bye, See ya is typically her phrase it's stinking cute! And of course her curly hair just gets curlier as she gets older, it's actually getting quite long but you can't tell because it just curls up!

Anyway enough bragging here is her party. It was Minnie mouse themed. I pretty much made everything myself and it was a great success. I always warned Tyler our kids would never have simple parties growing up because my mom always did themed parties and I loved it growing up so till my kids tell me to stop they will get them too!

Sophia's birthday outfit. Minnie headband and dress.

Minnie Plates! We had hot dogs for the kids, on the Mickie mouse club house they always sing this hot dog song at the end of it so they tied in great! The grownups got pork ribs.

Mason jars filled with drinks.

Chocolate covered oreos in mickie head shapes.

Sticky chex mix thank yous! These were a big hit I didn't have any left over! Here is the recipe I used.

Mickie head sugar cookies for a fruit pizza bar, so yummy! Also there are minnie cupcakes in the corner of the pic that turned out so cute, and the table center pieces made of pink tubs and paper pom poms.

I found a bubble machine at walmart for like 5 dollars and the kids all loved it!

Blowing out candles she made us do it like 3 times because she thought it was so fun! ha ha

Opening presents, she did much better with her birthday then she did at Christmas! She actually ripper the paper and wanted to see what was inside.

The amazing table fort Hanna made Sophia. She loved it! All the kids loved it ha ha they were all under there together at one point. It is seriously so cute! and we play with it all the time!

Sophia's big present from my brothers and sisters was this bike! Sophia loves the little boy's bike who lives next to us so we figured it was time to get her one of her own! She loves it! She asks to ride it everyday.

The party was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who came and for all the gifts she loved all of them! A special thanks to my mother who showed up early and with out my asking took care of putting everything together and putting everything away so I could visit with the guests! And one for Hanna for taking pics for me so I didn't have to worry about it! And Sara and Jess for helping me Friday, chop all the fruit and fill gift bags and watch Sophia and all my last minute things! And everyone who brought food, mom, Shelby, Briana! You guys are all great!
